Christians in the FCT have set aside 8 days to pray for the unity of Christians in what is globally called the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2020”. This program will begin on Sunday 16th and end on Sunday 23rd of January, 2022.
During this program, each of the 5 Blocs of CAN (i.e., Christian Association of Nigeria) in the FCT will host all Christians in their designated place of worship. The style of worship or order of service to be followed during the program was collectively designed by representatives of all 5 blocs. So, Christians of all denominations can feel at home with it.
On Monday 17th of January, it will be the turn of the Catholic Church (which bloc is known as Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria) to host this prayer program; and His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, our Archbishop, has approved the Church of Assumption, Asokoro as vanue for this program.
Therefore, the Archdiocese of Abuja Ecumenism Commission is urging all parishioners to turn out en mass for the program at Asokoro.
Time: 5pm
Ecumenism Committees of Parishes/Pastoral Areas/Chaplaincies are requested to provide further information about activities marking the Week of Prayer, and to mobilise parishioners to participate in all the activities.
May God bless us all. Amen.
Rev. Fr. Robert Achiaga
Chairman, Archdiocese of Abuja Ecumenism Commission.
